Tyre manufacturer to pilot iTrack OTR TPMS

iTrack_OTR_TPMS_Product_ShotTranslogik are delighted to announce that a leading global tyre manufacturer has paid for a pilot scheme of the iTrack OTR TPMS system. The pilot will take place in Japan, and represents the third such system trial; following on from those already underway in Chile.

The uniquely powerful feature set of iTrack, providing live tracking of tyre temperature and pressure, combined with real-time vehicle location and performance data, is generating significant commercial interest, offering operators a state-of-the-art tool to maximise the productivity of their vehicles through efficient tyre management. Tyre overheating is a continual issue when these huge trucks are carrying up to 400 tonne loads across rough terrain, which left unchecked, can lead to catastrophic tyre failure through delamination and in some cases, tyre fires and explosions.

Many mine operators currently employ manual inspection processes which involve stopping the trucks at regular intervals in order to perform  tyre temperature and pressure/puncture checks, resulting in expensive vehicle downtime. However, using the highly accurate, real-time temperature data provided by iTrack, mine owners can monitor their entire vehicle fleet from remote locations, using current live data and configurable system alerts to get early warning of potential problems, allowing vehicles to operate for longer, minimise breakdowns, increase tonnage per hour, and maximise tyre life.

Additionally, the increasing industry emphasis on mine safety provides another compelling reason for mine owners to ensure that their vehicles are operating within legal safety limits. iTrack provides full historical data logging for this purpose.
