Translogik Limited ('Translogik'), has signed a distribution agreement with RFID Chile.
The agreement combines Translogik OTR ('Off the Road') TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) technology and RFID Chile's mining application expertise to provide a real-time OTR tyre temperature and pressure management solution ('the system') to the South American mining industry.
The system was launched at the 2010 EXPOMIN in Santiago, Chile. Chile is the world's largest producer of copper. There was enormous interest from some of the world's largest mining operations from across South America.
Field trials of the new system, with a large Chilean mining company, are scheduled to begin on 10th May, when a team of engineers from Translogik and RFID Chile will fit three OTR TPMS systems to Komatsu 830E dumper trucks fitted with 57 inch tyres.
Max von Dessauer, CEO of RFID Chile, said "OTR tyres typically cost tens of thousands of dollars, and maximising the life and performance of these valuable assets is absolutely vital. Access to accurate, reliable, real-time temperature and pressure data will allow the mine operator to minimise replacement costs and breakdowns which adversely affect production levels. Even marginal improvements in productivity levels as a direct consequence of improved tyre performance can have a disproportionately large effect on margins."
Graham Storey, CEO of Transense, said "we are very pleased to be working with RFID Chile. Aligning ourselves to a company with their knowledge, experience and exposure in Latin America is a significant step forward in our ability to market our various tyre solutions in the region."
